I'm laughing as I look back through these photographs, because you are such a SHRIMP! Yet, while your were playing your butt off, I never once really noticed it. You are such a good athlete, you don't let your height get in your way. I love that!

This was against Cantu's team last week. Kendra is strikingly tall and lovely, but your team stomped them and you made her turn it over several times.

ROCK on, Kalyn!

cooper hoopsters is BIG underway!

I've enjoyed keeping the books and watching you play. I miss a few because of weddings and such, but overall, I'm making more games this year than ever. You hustle and try so hard. I love that about you.

I've been trying to perfect my sports photography skills, and I think I'm much better as a wedding photographer. Don't you agree?

More photos HERE.

prealgebra

I gave up on helping with homework in 4th grade. Long division? No problem...but when letters are introduced? Forget it.

Rachel called you tonight and you two made plans to "spend the night". You were very nervous and I wasn't sure you should stay, but I handed you my phone and here it is after 11 PM and I think you are OK. You haven't called. You two must be having fun. I'm praying you can ease those "over night" fears and let some fun come in. You don't get much time for simply friends, and goofing. Sports keep you busy and my heart hurts for you to have a best friend at Cooper. I know someday you will find one, but until then, I scream in silence at all the little girls that just don't know you. They are so missing out the fun.

WOW!

1st Place!

You've been working so hard on this all week. We've done Science Projects before at St. Jo's but I've always had to stay on you to get them done and get them completed. I basically helped you do your science project. Not this time.

You came up with the idea yourself and even completed all the expeirementation and data totally alone. Okay, so I tied a few baloons, big deal. The reason I'm so proud is not the pretty blue ribbon, but your determination and self independence you displayed at getting this project done and on time! And I didn't even really have to remind you.

You did AWESOME! And the blue ribbon? Just icing on the cake.

You had to say good bye to Cydnee this week. She's been playing on your soccer team for over a year now and we kindly refer to this girl as "the exterminator". She gets on the field and opposing team member fall down.

Claire's mom, Chris, hosted a party at her house so the Lonestar girls could say goodbye. You made her a card and hugged her one last time. And then we both were sad.

She will be missed!

We came home from school yesterday, and I was in a shooting mood. I've always said the 85 is my favorite lens, so that's all I used for this quick mini portrait. Canon was excited to see us, as he had been outside for most the day on his own and was craving some attention. You much obliged and I clicked away. You have the most pure face. Sure everyone can pull off the "fake portrait smile" even you. But for the most part, you simply are you and it works well for making photographs. I love that about you.

If you weren't my darling daughter, I mean, if I saw you just walking down the street and really had no idea who you were? I'd think "thug". But I know you and because of that I realize that you got this from Claire's birthday party and you just enjoying wearing it.

You were eating lunch before I long drive to Roundrock for a soccer tournament. We love "hoteling" it and the whole family has been looking foreward to it. You were giving me your "game face".

I was editing a session from the Christmas break and found this little gem. You went with me to Benjamin's session and totally helped me and made me realize that it's not such a bad thing for you to tag along. Sure, it's harder for me to concentrate sometimes, but I think the more you do it, the better we'll become together. Don't cha think?

breakfast with a champion (oatmeal and orange juice)

your MOB team, the Aztecs played last night and it was a game fit for ESPN! Oh, my! I was biting my nails, screaming at the refs, and bascially jumping out of my seat!

Game was neck and neck, with the Aztecs trailing the entire 4 quarters! You all had most excellent defense, and you'all never gave up. And judging by the looks from the other team, (huskies) you all were in much better shape. Those girls were red in the face, sucking air, heavy feet.

16 seconds left, score 20-19 and you were fouled bringing it down the court. Your coach called a time out. Us Mom's were in awful pain! So nervous, yet soooo excited! There were not enought fouls on the other team for free throws, which meant the ball was Aztecs at the half court side line.

You threw the ball in to McKenna, she dribbled down, 3 girls on her and she didn't have a shot.

Clock ticking!

She passes it to you across the top of the key, you were just inside the 3 point line.

You didn't hesitate one bit! You shot...

it arched...

IT WENT IN! Oh, my gosh!

IT WENT IN!

Aztecs win the game, 20-21.

Whew! I can't take many more of those.

School has officially started back. You were pretty upset at first, but I picked you up that first day, and oh, my...so organzied! You've taken your composition book and started taking notes just like mom does. Very cool. You walked different that day. Your shoulders back and head held high! I loved it.

Kalyn, I feel so blessed getting to watch your grow up and become this amazing creature! I consider you such a great person to spend my time with. You are just so much fun! And I didn't always feel that way, especially when you were still in diapers. That's an entire different blog for when I'm in therapy.

This night will forever go down in history. A MOMENTOUS OCCASSION. I will never again doubt your ability to celebrate "in the endzone". You my girl, are a "SUPERSTAR".

It started with a dare. You started your indoor session tonight for soccer wich you love to play because the game moves fast and furious and is quick and intense. AND you score an obscene amounts of goals. (3 goals and 3 assists in this game) We were discussing this on the way to the game and I dared you to do the "funky chicken" after you score. You loved the idea and thought, "Yeah, I could do that!"

Fast forward to "at the game" and you were not so sure. You then realized all the people that would be watching and how idiotic you would look, and how just maybe, someone would be laughing...and you almost bailed. Almost took the dare/bet/agreement back. You even tried to bargain it down to just one "grab my leg and head and sqawk like a chicken", to which I replied, "no, it has to be at least 3-5 times".

The game was intence and fast and furious and Lonestar scored within 3 minutes...5 times. And after one of you goals, we watched, holding our breath. You high fived Kourtney, you ran back to the center of the field, and yes, you did it! THE FUNKY CHICKEN!!!! The crowd loved it! (at least the Lonestar part of the crowd.) And they all looked at me, your mother, like..."what was that?" And there I was, sitting oh, so proud of my little girl, her shy broken shell...

broken through.

Thumbs up, Bednarz.

We spent the better part of our afternoon today surfing the web at Sugarbrowns. You love their snickerdoodle beagals, but they were plum out. A chocolate chip cookied worked pretty good instead. Mom had to get some work done on research for Rick's eagle, and this turned out to be pretty fun. Although it was much more fun to chat with you and Summer on instand messenger instead of "work work". HA!

need i say more?

You woke up a bit sore this morning from your Soccer workout last night. Intense, but you can handle it. I think you were a bit worried, concerned that you would be out of shape. Nah...not a chance. You like fun dip.

practice, practice, practice...

that's all you've gotten to do this entire vacation. Well, sort of. I mean we have enjoyed Gilmore Girls too. That and shoot 100 layups, and 100 jump shots, both from leff to right.

Practice, practice, practice.
